Why nothing is laid over the old roof
Covering over an existing roof is quicker on the day and hides every single thing beneath it. Taking it back to the boards is the only route by which anyone lays eyes on the deck, the valley linings or the wall details, and the only route by which a maker's written method can honestly be followed. On a roof already carrying two layers it stops being a preference at all.
What the scope covers
Strip-off and disposal
Every existing layer comes off and goes straight into a container sited where it will not mark the drive.
Decking made good
Spongy, split or delaminated boards come out and go in the skip, and the replacements go down before anything covers them. You are shown the pieces.
Underlayment and ice barrier
Synthetic over the whole field, backed by ice and water barrier along the lower courses, through every valley and tight to each stack.
Flashing replaced outright
Step, chimney and valley flashing is renewed rather than bent back and bedded into sealant.
Airflow balanced
Intake low and exhaust high, judged as one system, because a new covering over a sealed loft ages years early.
Site cleared daily
Debris leaves as it comes off and the ground takes a magnet run before the crew does.
Who is on the roof
Steep and tired roofs are walked rather than judged from the top of a ladder, which is possible because the crews hold current OSHA safety certification. It is the unglamorous reason a replacement estimate here rests on what somebody actually stood on.
